This picture is the deadliest place in the solar system. It is also arguably the most amazing. It is the magnetic field of the sun, captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. The Solar Dynamics Observatory is very much a new NASA project; launched in February to undergo a five-year study of the sun. The image quality from the observatory is ten times better than 1080p television, which is just absurdly good image quality, barely imaginable when all we have is pathetic, poor quality 1080p television (Tongue very much in cheek)!
I don’t know about you, but the sun almost doesn’t seem real to me. We take it so much for granted, and look at it so little, that it just seems to co-exist, without people considering it as something very much real. If you look at the sun in those pictures, it looks like the most incredible mass of heat. I think if I ever saw that with my own eyes I would probably faint.
